Sister Wives Coyote Pass Sale: What the Stars Said Before Selling Land (2025)

The Sister Wives stars initially planned to build a quartet of homes in Flagstaff, Arizona, on land informally called Coyote Pass.

Kody Brown and his then-wives moved their polygamist family from Utah to Arizona in 2018. Kody wed Meri Brown in 1990, several years before he “spiritually married” Janelle Brown in 1993 and Christine Brown in 1994, respectively. Kody and Meri divorced in 2014 so that he could legally marry his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, and adopt her three children from a previous relationship.

As Kody has children with each of his spouses, the plan was for everyone to live on the Flagstaff acreage. The construction plans, however, were derailed after Kody’s respective breakups. Christine, who is now married to David Wooley, split from the TLC patriarch in 2021. Meri and Janelle each followed suit in 2022.

With their respective spiritual divorces, Meri, Janelle and Christine no longer wanted to share the property with Kody and Robyn.

“It’s about 14 [acres] total,” Meri said on the Tamron Hall show in April 2025. “I’m a fighter. I will fight for what I deserve.”

News broke that same month that the Browns did sell the land for $1.5 million, meaning that each TLC star will walk away with a profit of $680,000.

Christine Gifts Stakes to Kody for $10

After Christine broke up with Kody, she sold her shares of the deed back to Kody and Robyn for $10.

“For the consideration of Ten Dollars, and other valuable consideration, I or we, Kody Winn Brown and Robyn Alice Brown, husband and wife and Christine R. Brown, a single woman do/does hereby convey to Kody Winn Brown and Robyn Alice Brown, husband and wife the following real property situated in Coconino County, Arizona,” the deed read.

Janelle Wanted Out

The dispute over the Coyote Pass ownership reached a fever pitch after Janelle and Kody separated. She wanted her ex-husband to buy her out of her portion and use the earnings to move out of Arizona.

“I’ll be honest, I’ve thought about screwing her. OK, so I’m being honest, but I won’t,” Kody said of Janelle during a December 2024 episode. “My wife with a conscience, [Robyn], won’t let me.”

Meri’s Shares Were Smaller

Meri was designated to have ownership of fewer parcels.

“I’m only legally one-third owner of one of the four parcels, so I own the least amount of property,” she said on the show in December 2024.

Kody and Robyn have two plots, with one initially designated to them and the other gifted from Christine. Janelle also shared a plot with Kody and another with both Kody and Meri.

“I don’t understand why the property got divided the way that it did,” Meri at the time. “I was not involved in that process. I was just told about it after the fact.”

One month later, Meri claimed on the show that Kody initially promised her two acres.

“His whole big thing then was I would get two acres,” she told her friend Jen in a January 2025 episode. “He’s like, ‘Well, you don’t need as much because you don’t have as many kids.’ … Kody has actually said this: ‘Because I only have one child, I am not entitled to an equal portion of the property.’” (Kody and Meri share Leon.)

Kody, meanwhile, didn’t want to argue about dividing the assets since he has “18 kids to take care of” and the rest was “water under the bridge.”

Robyn and Kody Had Differing Perspectives

Robyn was initially against selling the land.

“I love Coyote Pass. I always have,” she said in a January 2025 episode. “It’s hard to think of letting it go.”

According to Kody, he went back and forth about keeping the property. He also claimed that Robyn “knows we need to sell it” despite a personal pull to keep hold of the land.

“Every time I’m at a Coyote Pass, I’m just, like, my heart aches,” Robyn said. “I [just] see the vision that I’ve always imagined, all of the space and the houses. It’s just been so difficult and so sad with the family. I know everybody just wants out of the pain.”
